A bride and her 10 bridesmaids opted for matching lip tattoos during her bachelorette weekend - in a unique twist on pre-wedding bonding.

Bride Taylor Downs, 28, left guests in awe during the maid of honor's speech in Nashville, Tennessee.

The daring decision to commemorate their wild weekend with the word 'yeehaw' permanently inked on their bodies was initially suggested by Taylor herself.

Surprisingly, each bridesmaid enthusiastically agreed to the impromptu plan.

Eight of them chose to have the tattoo on the inside of their bottom lip, one on the bum, and another on the foot.

Taylor, a graduate student studying for her masters in counseling from Florida, shared her excitement about the unconventional idea.

She said: "It started as a joke. I said, 'wouldn’t it be funny if we all got tattoos somewhere? We were in Nashville, so I thought 'yeehaw' would be fun. They all said, 'let’s actually do it.' I’m spontaneous and down for anything."

Taylor, not one to shy away from spontaneity, described the pain as minimal, comparing it to "biting your lip or cheek - a little pinch."

Upon returning home, Taylor surprised her now-husband Jacob Downs, 24, with the unexpected tattoo reveal.

She said: "He thought it was as cool as I did."

The big reveal took place during Taylor and Jacob's wedding in June 2022. The bridesmaids showed off their matching 'yeehaw' tattoos during the speeches, leaving the guests and the couple's families in awe.

Taylor’s sisters, Landrey Vickery, 24, and Kyla Moore, 22, who organized the bachelorette weekend, commended Taylor for her influence and urged the bridesmaids to unveil their secret tattoos together.

Taylor said: "My sisters said I was a really influential person and I was able to get people to do something. They told us all to reveal what we all got together. We all stood up and showed our tattoos. Everyone was just surprised. My parents thought it was funny. My granddad rolled his eyes."

Despite the unconventional choice, Taylor doesn't regret it.

She said: "It fits my spontaneous and carefree personality."

Most days, she forgets she even has the tattoo but still "loves" the unique and memorable experience shared with her bridesmaids.
