Kim Kardashian once let the world know, via X (formerly Twitter), about a little smoothie she drinks that’s packed with tons of vitamins and antioxidants. In a Q&A with fans, the multifaceted star - who recently thrilled fans when she posed topless with just a pair of ice skates on - shared some details about her diet.

Back in 2020, she said she was trying to stick to a plant-based diet (that she still seems to be on). Vegan tacos made the list of foods she often consumed, and a particular smoothie was on the menu too.

Kim shared that she is a fan of sea moss smoothies which have been super trendy in recent years.

Sea moss, also commonly called Irish moss, is a species of red algae and a superfood perfect for people who are vegan or on a gluten-free diet.

If you’re wondering what benefits Kim may be getting from sea moss, there are a couple. People are increasingly becoming aware of the benefits of adding sea moss to their diet, such as promoting weight loss, boosting immunity, and supporting gut health.

WebMD says that it may even be able to prevent Parkinson’s disease and support thyroid health.

Sea moss has iodine in it, and iodine is known to either increase or decrease thyroid function, so be sure to not consume too much sea moss as while it’s helpful in aiding thyroid problems, it can cause them too when consumed in excess.

It's also full of nutrients and vitamins like vitamin B2, calcium, iodine, potassium, sodium and zinc. It has antioxidants too, which are compounds that help protect your cells from diseases causing oxidative damage, per Healthline.

Sea moss is sold as a powder, supplement, and gel as well as in its raw seaweed form.

Some say you can’t really taste the sea moss when you add it to a smoothie or your meal, and others have reported that it has very little taste, describing it as mild.

However, others who have sampled the moss reported that it does have a taste, describing it as unpleasant and salty or fishy. The gel is said to taste fishy with a texture similar to aloe vera, while raw sea moss can taste like the ocean.
