Fans of reality star Kim Kardashian were rather surprised when she revealed Ivanka Trump was a guest at her birthday party - but her friendship with the former President's daughter actually goes back nearly a decade.

Kim Kardashian took to Instagram this week to wish Ivanka Trump a happy birthday, just over a week after Donald Trump’s daughter celebrated the Hulu star’s 43rd.
Many of Kim’s Instagram followers were surprised to discover The Kardashian star was friends with the daughter of the controversial Republican President.
However, their bond isn’t a recent development as the pair have actually been close friends for years.
On Monday, Ivanka’s 42nd birthday, Kim took to her Stories with a thoughtful message and some throwback snaps.
Alongside a picture of the two moms with their daughters, she wrote: “Happy Birthday to the most thoughtful sweetest soul @ivankatrump.
“Can’t wait to celebrate you asap! Our babies are so small here.”
Ivanka has three children, including Arabella Kushner, with her husband Jared Kushner, while Kim has had four children with her ex Kanye West, including North West.
Their shared experience as mothers is apparently what has brought the two celebrities from very different worlds together over the last decade.
An insider previously told Us Weekly: “Kim and Ivanka have been friends for years and have hung out on a number of occasions.

“They initially bonded nearly a decade ago at the Met Gala over motherhood and being new moms.
“But they continued to connect numerous times over the years.”
Kim and Ivanka clearly share a love of fashion as they first became friends at one of the world’s most exclusive fashion events.
The Kardashians star has also met Ivanka’s father, President Trump, while he was still in office at the White House.
She discussed prison reform and the release of Alice Johnson, who was sentenced to life imprisonment and given clemency by President Trump in 2018.
Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner were responsible for setting up the meeting, as confirmed in Trump’s former advisor’s memoir Breaking History.
In a New York Times profile, Kim also shared that she had considered buying her friend Ivanka’s apartment at one point.
Despite their friendship, Kim and Ivanka’s close bond has only recently been made public, but their fans could expect to see a lot more of the pair spending time together going ahead.
