Kevin Spacey 'needs controlled well-rehearsed TV interview' to revive career in Hollywood

EXCLUSIVE: Kevin Spacey's first project after his sex assault trial will be "polluted with negative questions", a leading crisis manager tells Daily Express US as they urge the Hollywood actor to "take some time away".

Kevin Spacey found not guilty of nine charges

Kevin Spacey needs a "well-rehearsed" exclusive TV interview to kickstart his career after being cleared of sex offences, claims a PR crisis expert.

The House of Cards actor, 64, was found not guilty of sexually assaulting four men between 2001 and 2013 on Wednesday.

After 12 hours and 26 minutes, a jury panel acquitted Spacey of seven counts of sexual assault, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

Now, leading industry experts say it might take a bit of time for Kevin to return to the industry after the high-profile and highly-publicized court case.

One tells the Daily Express US that he needs to "take some time out" of the spotlight so he can "plot his return" into Hollywood.

Andy Barr, a crisis communications expert, explains: "He will need to remember that any promotion he does to promote his first project back will be polluted with negative questions around this case.

"He needs to take some time away from the limelight, take stock of the situation and plot his return, if he even wants to."

The PR professional reveals Spacey will need to think carefully about his first interview, urging him to aim for a well-thought-through chat with the press.

He added: "The traditional Crisis Communications Playbook would say that when it comes to restoring a reputation, you pick one big ticket media outlet to go to first with a tightly controlled and well-rehearsed interview."

Barr revealed: "I imagine his Hollywood return may be some time away, but his theatre production work could return far sooner."

After being cleared of nine offences on Wednesday, Kevin thanked the jury at Southwark Crown Court in London, England, for examining "all of the evidence".

Addressing the press gathered outside the court, Mr Spacey said: "I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today.

"But I would like to say that I’m enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts, carefully, before they reached their decision. And I am humbled by the outcome today.

"I also want to thank the staff inside this courthouse, the security, and all those who took care of us every single day, my legal team… for being here every day.

"And that’s all I have to say for the moment. Thank you very much."
