Conor Mcgregor wasted no time praising Katie Taylor - and himself in the process - following the boxer's brilliant win over Chantelle Cameron. Taylor became a two-weight undisputed world champion following the mixed decision victory.

Taylor and Cameron scrapped over 10 rounds at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland, as the local avenged her only career loss. Taylor lost six months earlier to Cameron at the same venue, losing all her belts.

But a battling Taylor reigned supreme in front of 9,000 fans on Saturday to be only the third fight to become a two-weight undisputed world champion. Only Evander Holyfield and Clarissa Shields have achieved this before her, writing the 37-year-old into boxing folklore.

Fellow countryperson McGregor could barely contain his excitement following the result. He posted on X: "Two women amazing! Congratulations Katie Taylor! What a comeback! What a redemption! What a hero of Ireland!"

"It takes two to tango and Chantelle is a phenomenal fighter and a phenomenal champion, she deserves everything that she gets. To have a trilogy would be a great respect for both of us. I think that is exactly what we both want.

"She is a legend herself. Two legends of the ring fighting again for the trilogy. I don’t think there’s ever been a trilogy in women’s boxing. This could be the first."

Promoter Eddie Hearn would be responsible for getting this done and he stated "Croke Park has to be done."

He said: "We'll do everything we can [to make it happen]. Chantelle Cameron is the pick for the trilogy. And it's really only Chantelle Cameron or Amanda Serrano. They're the two mega fights out there that Croke Park wants."

He then added a picture of himself and Taylor and praised his own self in the process. He captioned the post with: "Two division, Irish born and bred, UNIFIED World Champions! Boxing and MMA. Trilogy Rematch at OUR weight in Croke Park. @KatieTaylor. HUGE CONGRATS!"

The Notorious was of course referring to the time when he held two UFC Championships in two weight classes at the same time. McGregor also teased the idea of a rematch at Croke Park - an 82,000-seater stadium in Dublin - and that's something Taylor herself mentioned when commenting on the fight.

"It was the longest six months in my life waiting for this rematch,” she said. "This is my real homecoming tonight. You saw the worst of me in May. You saw the best of me tonight. Let’s get the trilogy in Croke Park.
