Kate, the Princess of Wales and Prince William have accepted their rift with Prince Harry "cannot be fixed" in the short term, a royal expert has claimed.

Rumors of tension between the Waleses and the Sussexes have persisted since Harry and Meghan confirmed their plan to step back from roles within the British Royal Family.

Earlier reports claimed the two royal brides had not been seeing eye-to-eye but Harry himself hinted not all was well with his elder brother only a few weeks before they stepped down.

He doubled down with criticism in his memoir Spare, further exacerbating a breakdown in relations that has also extended to a broader group of royals.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond claimed the Prince and Princess of Wales have now "closed their minds" to the possibility of turning back the clock on relations, instead focusing on supporting each other moving forward.

Bond argued that Catherine initially "believed the rift could be fixed" but was forced to change her mind after the scathing allegations Harry and Meghan leveled against her and William.

She told OK! Magazine: "Catherine has been hurt and insulted by things that Harry and Meghan have said, but she and William are a very strong team, and I suspect that, together, they've come to the conclusion that the rift with Harry cannot be fixed in the foreseeable future.

"There comes a point when you just have to accept that happy families are not a game that everyone can play."

Harry's initial comments about his rift suggested his main gripe was with William, noting they were "on different paths."

But then he and Meghan claimed Kate made the Duchess of Sussex cry ahead of their wedding in their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021.

Rather than engage in a tit-for-tat war of words with the California-based couple, Bond noted that Kate and William have turned to their "enduring friendship" to support each other.

She added: "The marriage is founded on an enduring friendship and I'm sure William has called on the strength of that friendship to help him come to terms with the loss of his wingman, his brother."

One source close to the couple claimed they are "in awe of each other" because of the goals they have achieved despite difficulties in the family.

They told US Weekly: "William tells anyone who will listen that he couldn’t do it without Kate, and she echoes that right back."
