Princess Kate's friend slaps down totally 'absurd' claim made by Royal Family critics

Kate, the Princess of Wales has emerged as the most popular member of the British Royal Family in the US but anonymous critics still suggested she is not doing enough for the institution.

A friend of Kate, the Princess of Wales has broken their silence to defend the royal from "absurd" accusations questioning her work ethic.

The Princess of Wales and her husband Prince William have been dogged by rumors of shirking official duties for years but she has been a particular subject of criticism.

Her decision not to accompany William to New York in favor of staying in England with their children has been challenged – as has the couple's decision not to attend the women's soccer World Cup in Australia last month.

But a friend of the royal has now decided to hit back against the accusations, in particular claims from Daily Mail's Ephraim Hardcastle suggesting Kate is "a reluctant overseas traveler."

Hardcastle, a fictional byline usually employed by the British tabloid for columns written by one of their editors, noted the Princess of Wales only went on two engagements abroad, one to Jordan for the wedding of the Crown Prince and one to Marseille to watch England rugby play Argentina.

The anonymous columnist suggested the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) had "high hopes" she would agree to traveling more, possibly with her three children, "but it seems that school and routine are now more important than helping the FCO."

However, Kate's friend dismissed the comments as "absurd," noting that "she works incredibly hard."

Speaking to The Daily Beast, they added: "They have had this type of criticism from the press before and I’m sure they will have it again. It’s water off a duck’s back.

"Real people understand that you have to prioritize your children at that age, and you can’t both just go flying off to New York at the drop of a hat.

"The fact that they both consistently receive very high approval ratings shows that the public get it, even if the Daily Mail wants to find fault.”

The couple have consistently shown they are committed to being hands-on parents and have so far managed to balance their royal duties with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis's everyday needs.

The parent of a child attending the children's school in Windsor said: "They are incredible parents. Me and my husband always say they are much better than us.

"They usually do drop off and pick up themselves and at least one of them is always at everything, whether it’s just a football match or a prize giving."

William is due in Singapore in November for the third edition of his Earthshot Prize but Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm whether Kate will travel to Asia with him.
