EXCLUSIVE: A new poll of US voters has revealed that just three percent of Americans believe the Ukraine war is a priority and a majority do not want to pay for it.

Basham warns that Americans have lost interest in Ukraine

Joe Biden is facing a fresh crisis at home with a loss of faith in a key part of his foreign policy, according to new polling for Daily Express US

The data reveals Americans no longer back heavy US involvement in the Ukraine war.

With the cost of living crisis and the economy still the major priority for most voters, Ukraine is now near the bottom of the list after more than 18 months of fighting following Russia's invasion.

According to the survey of 1,500 US voters by the Washington DC based Democracy Institute, only three percent believe Ukraine is a top priority.

This compares to 53 percent for the economy, 17 percent for crime and 12 percent for the migration crisis on the Mexican border.

But the findings get worse for Biden who has made helping President Volodymyr Zelensky defeat Vladimir Putin a priority.

As he enters an election year, the poll reveals only 31 percent support his handling of the Ukraine war and only 44 percent think US taxpayers should pay for it compared to 51 percent who oppose American money going to Ukraine.

The issue has been made all the worse with the focus going on Israel and Gaza after the atrocities by Hamas which many Americans now see as a greater foreign policy priority.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has made it clear that if he were to be elected as President next year he would stop funding going to Ukraine.

Added to that the new Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson has also been skeptical about money for Ukraine.

He has just agreed to consider a new Ukraine aid package but only if it is linked to more money spent in the US by Biden's administration.

Director of the Democracy Institute Patrick Basham explained: "America don't like the fact that Russia invaded, they don't like Putin. They want Ukraine to win.

"Initially, they wanted America to support Ukraine very vigorously and initially supported sanctions.

"But what has happened over the year plus is that as the war hasn't come to a successful conclusion, as Russia and Putin have survived, and things have gotten worse economically and at the southern border in terms of illegal immigration.

"What began as a minority of Americans to [question the war] became a plurality of Americans and I would argue on most of these issues, not the right and wrong as of the war itself, but in terms of what America should should or shouldn't be doing at this point going forward.

"Now, a majority of Americans think it's time to bring this to a hopefully peaceful conclusion.

"Americans are very concerned about the endless VA funding, which is not audited. They're very concerned that America is going to be in Ukraine one way or another forever."
