Jim Jordan has failed to secure enough votes to earn a nomination for the Speaker of the House, and as of this writing, the House of Representatives has adjourned.

What's more, in the first round of votes, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, a Democrat, actually secured more votes than Jordan.

In the final vote tally, Jordan only secured 200 votes, while Jeffries secured 213.

Jordan could only afford to lose 4 Republicans during the first round of voting — and he lost 20.

As of this writing, Jim Jordan is meeting with the 20 Republicans who wouldn't vote for him for the Speaker of the House role.

NBC News is reporting that "Jordan is currently making the rounds inside the House chamber with the few holdouts still inside. He approached Diaz-Balart in the back of the House chamber, the two shook hands and then sat down to talk. Then Jordan spoke with Rutherford."

It isn't clear whether Jordan's meetings with the dissenting Republicans will yield the results he desires.

As it stands right now, Jim Jordan has fewer votes than Kevin McCarthy did when he was ousted as the Speaker.

And this is despite many strong-arm tactics deployed by the GOP, including a press run on Fox News, and an endorsement from embattled ex-president Donald Trump.

However, some GOP insiders believe that this all actually worked against Jordan in the long run.

The House of Representatives has been without a Speaker for 13 days, as of this writing.
