Jaws 2 star Marc Gilpin’s family shares heartbreaking ‘financial stress’ before his death
Former child star Marc Gilpin has sadly died at the age of 56 following a long battle with cancer and significant financial woes.
Jaws 2 star Marc Gilpin’s sad death at 56 was announced by his sister, Frasier actress Peri Gilpin, on Wednesday.
He died in Dallas, Texas after a lengthy battle with glioblastoma - an aggressive and fast-growing brain tumor.
In addition to a severe health battle, Gilpin was also facing significant financial trouble during the last years of his life.
A fundraiser was set up back in May 2022 to help the former actor and his wife Kaki “face the unimaginable”.
GoFundMe campaign organizer Kim Parks wrote: “As if this is not enough for this family of four to endure, they are also dealing with significant financial stress.
“Recently Marc lost his job along with his company-paid insurance plan and has been actively pursuing new employment.
“Facing this medical crisis, Marc is clearly unable to gain employment at this time.
“His wife, Kaki, is an elementary school teacher which is the most admirable profession but sadly also very underpaid.

“Given the current crisis situation they are in, Kaki has had to take FMLA time off of work to navigate all of the doctor appointments, treatments and more. Therefore, her salary is even more reduced during this period.”
Gilpin was best known for his role in Jaws 2 as the young son of Roy Scheider’s Police Chief Martin Brody, Sean.
The sequel was released in 1978, three years after Steven Spielberg’s classic thriller.
“Recently Marc lost his job along with his company-paid insurance plan and has been actively pursuing new employment.
“Facing this medical crisis, Marc is clearly unable to gain employment at this time.

The film’s young star was just 11 when he was cast, beating hundreds of other boys for the coveted role.
He went on to appear in TV series CHiPs, Fantasy Island and Flying High.
His last film role was in 1989’s She's Out of Control before retiring from acting.
