has destroyed a weapons depot in Lebanon belonging to the terror group Hezbollah, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has claimed.

Sharing footage of the devastating strike on X, IDF spokesperson Daniel Higari said: "IDF forces recently attacked a weapons depot of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanese territory in the Arab area of ​​Aramsha, in response to mortar fire that was fired from the area at an IDF post."

This comes after heavy exchanges of fire across the Israel-Lebanon border on Saturday.

Hezbollah and Israeli forces have clashed after Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7 and Israel's subsequent bombardment of Gaza.

Both Israel and Hezbollah have claimed to have hit enemy targets during the strikes over the weekend.

Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed group based in Lebanon, claimed they fired rockets towards at least five Israeli positions on Saturday afternoon.

Israeli forces said two mortar bombs launched from Lebanon fell in open areas in Shomera, across the border from the south Lebanon village of Marwahin, reports Reuters.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib has accused Israel of sparking the hostilities between the two countries.

He said: "It was not the Lebanese government nor Hezbollah that threatened war. Israel was issuing daily threats against Lebanon, while (Hezbollah Secretary-General) Hassan Nasrallah threatened it weeks after."

The tensions between Hezbollah and Israel come as the IDF resumes its assault on Gaza following its ceasefire with Hamas.

The Israeli military has said its ground offensive is expanding to every part of Gaza as the strip is to be divided into three.

Israeli military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told reporters in Tel Aviv: "The IDF (Israel Defence Forces) continues to extend its ground operation against Hamas centres in all of the Gaza Strip."
