The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have stated they will be expanding their ground operation in Southern Gaza, following the ceasefire that ended on Friday.

The IDF announced its "powerful" mission on Sunday and claimed that every part of Gaza is now covered by the ground operation, with more evacuations ordered in the south of the city.

They promised this new offensive would show "no less strength" than their previous offensive attacks in the north.

Palestinians are still struggling to flee Gaza, a city that has been dubbed as an "open-air prison", despite the offerings of evacuations from the IDF.

Many of the 2.3 million people in Gaza currently are in the south, as this is where the IDF told them to flee earlier on in the war.

At the COP28 summit in Dubai, Vice President Kamala Harris called for a strengthening of Palestinian Authority forces as more civilians are killed every day.

She said: "As Israel pursues its military objectives in Gaza, we believe Israel must do more to protect innocent civilians."

Vice President Harris also stated the US would not allow Palestinians in Gaza or the West Bank to be forcibly relocated, or the the besieging and redrawing of Gaza's borders.

She asked the international community to come together to support the recovery of Gaza with the rebuilding of schools, hospitals and homes.

According to the Hamas-run health department, the death toll in Gaza since October 7 is 15,500, with 70 percent of those being women and children. More than 41,000 are reported to have been wounded.

The United Nations has also reported that around 1.8 million Gazans have been displaced since the war broke out.

This comes amid Yemen's Houthi rebels' continued maritime attacks in the Red Sea, which they say they will continue to do for as long as Israel is pursuing military action is Gaza.
