'Easy’ cranberry sauce recipe for this Thanksgiving can be made in just 10 minutes

One chef is begging people to not get their cranberry sauce from a can, as this classic Thanksgiving dish is very easy to make homemade in around 10 minutes.

Cranberry sauce is a classic Thanksgiving dish and no holiday meal is complete without it, but it can sometimes feel like an added stress at the end of cooking for such a long time. 

A lot of people simply save themselves some time by buying cranberry sauce from a can, but one chef is asking people to consider trying their own homemade cranberry sauce this year as it can be made in around 10 minutes or even made before Thanksgiving Day

Erin Clarke, a cook and best-selling cookbook author, has shared how to make her zesty and delicious yet simple cranberry sauce recipe.

In a video online, Erin said: “You are making a mistake if you are only serving cranberry sauce from a can. It is the easiest side dish to make from scratch.”

She added: “Once you make this easy homemade cranberry sauce you will kiss the can goodbye for good.”

How to make the “easiest” homemade cranberry sauce 

Ingredients

  • Cranberries 
  • Orange juice
  • Orange zest
  • Honey 
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Pitch of cloves 
  • Pinch of salt 

Kitchen equipment: 

  • Medium saucepan

Instructions

To begin, add cranberries, orange juice, and orange zest to a saucepan and cook on medium heat. 

Mix in the honey for some sweetness, and then add in your cinnamon and cloves to help give the sauce some warmth. 

Add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweet flavors of the recipe. 

Cook and stir the sauce for around 10 to 15 minutes until the cranberries break down and the sauce thickens. 

Your homemade cranberry sauce is now ready to serve with your Thanksgiving meal. 

For leftovers, they can stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one or two weeks or stored in the fridge for up to six months.
