With summer holidays underway, many look forward to the first meal of the day and the chance to enjoy a big breakfast they haven’t had to prepare themselves. It’s one of the things people on vacation love about staying in a hotel.

TikToker Melissa Hanks (@melly_creations) suggested in a recent clip, however, that guests should do breakfast earlier rather than later.

“If you’re an early riser and you get there within 30 minutes of the breakfast being made, I’d say everything is fair game”, she said, adding that this is when items such as yogurts, pieces of bread, and fruit, are at their freshest.

Many use a hotel stay as a chance to indulge in a cooked breakfast, with Melissa noting: “Scrambled eggs are usually out of a carton, in liquid form. My go-to is usually the cereal”.

She went on: “Bread rolls were stale because they weren’t individually wrapped”.

Waffles are always popular with guests, “In particular I always enjoy the make-your-own waffle station”, according to Melissa.

The former hotel employee posted a video of a hotel breakfast buffet, showing milk and cereal holders which she branded “disgusting”, as they looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for a long time.

She wanders along the buffet lifting lids of various things such as solidified, scrambled eggs and awful, white gravy. None of which looks appetizing.

She explained: “Clearly this milk’s been sitting there with no way to keep it cold. That will make someone sick.”

Viewers rushed to the comments to share their view on the matter, with one writing: “I eat everything!! It’s free I’m not picky!! I never got sick from that!!”

“Hotels got the best waffles I got a waffle maker at home and it’s just not the same,” said another.

One commentator, who currently works at a hotel, penned: “I’m a breakfast attendant and I’m always making breakfast. Hot food is always fresh”.
