Honey Boo Boo's father Sugar Bear latest star to reach out for Lamar Odom's help at rehab
Mike 'Sugar Bear' Thompson is reportedly set to spend time in one of Lamar Odom's rehab facilities for prescription pill addiction.
Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson - the father of Honey Boo Boo star Alana Thompson - has reportedly checked into Lamar Odom’s rehab facility.
The 51-year-old reality star, according to TMZ, is seeking treatment for prescription pill medication in his latest attempt to turn his life around.
He reached out to NBA star Odom - a recovering addict who has since opened a number of facilities to help others - last weekend after meeting him last year.
According to TMZ, Thompson is now putting things in place ready to check in to the Kansas location on Thursday evening to begin his recovery program.
The site adds he hopes his treatment will help mend his broken relationship with his now 17-year-old daughter, whom he’s been estranged from for a year.
Thompson’s reported quest for sobriety comes as part of an effort to transform himself and his life.
After his fallout with Alana in 2022, Thompson has had a series of cosmetic procedures - reportedly valued at $66,800 - in order to appear healthier
Among the procedures was dental work to remove 20 rotting teeth, a new set of dentures, a hair transplant as well as Botox (according to Page Six).
However, the star has recently fallen on harder times, made worse by his split from his girlfriend.
According to TMZ, Thompson became addicted to prescription medication he was taking for his diabetes, and struggles with anxiety and depression.
The site did not state which medication he was taking to counterbalance the issue.
Daily Express US has reached out to Thompson’s representatives for comment and clarification on the issue.
