Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart have been one of the most steadfast couples in Hollywood since their love-at-first-sight meeting at the 2002 Golden Globes.

However, this is not to say their eight years of dating and subsequent 13-year-long marriage have always been easy-going.

The 81-year-old and 1923 star told Parade his simple secret to a successful long-term marriage is: “Don’t talk, nod you head.”

Although this is his third marriage, the longevity and sincerity behind each of his romances is not to be underestimated with even his shortest marriage thus far lasting a sensational 15 years.

In recent months, as the actor makes his final appearance as the iconic Indiana Jones, Calista has been by his side throughout the star’s emotional farewells.

Shortly after the movie’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Harrison was awarded an honourary Palme d'Or Award.

In his acceptance speech, the actor joked he had seen his life flash before his eyes, highlighting though it was only “a great part of my life but not all of my life”.

He continued, pausing as tears threatened his ability to speak: “My life has been enabled by… my lovely wife who has supported my passion and my dreams and… I’m grateful.”

Earlier this year the actor revealed not only has his 58-year-old wife been a big supporter of his career but also a key critic.

The Star Wars actor had unintentionally given a profanity-laced interview with The Hollywood Reporter which saw him getting a well-earned lashing from Calista.

In an Esquire cover story, the 81-year-old admitted: “My wife is still giving me s**t about that Hollywood Reporter thing, and I’m trying not to say that too much.”

He tried to explain himself, saying because he was being interviewed on folding chairs in a horse stall he didn’t feel the need to be formal or leave out his expletives.

He added: “They printed every single ‘f**k’.”

Harrison also revealed Calista has advised him to stop talking about one of his hobbies, because of how privileged it sounds to have his own hangar and airplanes.

The avid aviator has seemingly ignored this advice from his beloved, often sharing his enthusiasm for flying, but highlighted he does have to finish all of his household chores before he’s allowed to head to the hangar.
