Hairspray's Amanda Bynes unrecognizable after eyelid surgery - and she addresses new face

Amanda Bynes, the star of Hairspray, looks completely different as she shows off her new look after a unique surgery.

The former teen actress took to Instagram to address comments about her changing appearance and confessed that the eyelid surgery was "one of the best things I could have ever done for my self-confidence."

She now sports blue-dyed eyebrows, a heart tattoo on her left cheek, and bright blonde hair.

"I saw a couple of stories online that say I have a new look and I was never open about this before.

"I actually had blepharoplasty surgery on the skin folds in the corners of my eyes. So I don't have those skin folds anymore," she admitted.

Amanda further explained how the procedure boosted her "self-confidence" and made her "feel a lot better in my skin."

She added: "I feel a lot better now about myself and I'm so glad I had the blepharoplasty surgery. It was one of the greatest things I could have ever done."

She also shared some tips for looking younger on social media, explaining that she "tends to find the best light" rather than taking photos in "harsh lighting," which can "cast dark shadows in different areas."

Amanda has opened up about the scars on the right side of her face, which she says are only visible in "bright light."

This comes after the former Nickelodeon actress announced the launch of her debut podcast episode with her mate, Paul Sieminski, called Amanda Bynes and Paul Sieminski: The Podcast.

She posted a picture on Instagram of herself with her co-host and their first guest, tattoo artist Dahlia Moth.

Earlier this year, reports suggested that Amanda was put on psychiatric hold after being found wandering alone and without clothes on the streets.

The 36-year-old star was reportedly seen walking near downtown Los Angeles early in the morning.

It's said that Amanda stopped a passing car and told the driver she was "coming down from a psychotic episode", before dialing 999 for herself.

She was then reportedly taken to a nearby police station where a mental health team decided to place her on a 5150 psychiatric hold.
