Gypsy Rose Blanchard has been and is set to be released from prison - three years before her original release date.

The 32-year-old, who pleaded guilty to second degree  - Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard - in 2016, was handed a 10-year sentence.

She was convicted of plotting to kill her mother with accomplice, Nicholas Godejohn, who she met on a Christian dating site. He was handed a life sentence for his role.

Blanchard will now be released on December 28 after serving just seven years, the Missouri Department of Corrections confirmed this week.

Dee Dee had convinced her daughter that she was terminally ill, with Blanchard's lawyers claiming she was "abused" by her mom as part of a fraud scheme.

Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder for stabbing Clauddine, with a judge earlier this year refusing to vacate the conviction.

He had attempted to get a new trial on the grounds that he had "poor representation" for his 2018 conviction.

Blanchard found love in prison and got engaged in 2019 to a pen pal who began writing to her after her story featured in HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest.

Clauddine was found stabbed to death in her bed at her home in Springfield, Missouri, in June 2015.

Clauddine's mother suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy - a condition in which a caregiver uses the person in care for attention. She convinced people that her daughter was terminally ill.

She said that, as a teenager, her daughter had the mind of a seven-year-old and pushed her around in a wheelchair, saying she suffered from muscular dystrophy, leukemia and other ailments.

The mom also reportedly made her daughter shave her head so it appeared as if she lost her hair through chemotherapy.

Clauddine also accepted financial donations and the two went on charity-funded trips to Disney World.

Blanchard met her accomplice Nicholas Godejohn on ChristianDatingForFree.com and began a two-year relationship.

After opening up to her boyfriend about her mother's behavior, the pair plotted to kill Clauddine. Godejohn snuck into the house and stabbed the mom while Blanchard allegedly hid in the bathroom.

A shocking Facebook status from Clauddine and Gypsy's shared account on June 14, 2015, read: "That B**** is dead', which prompted alarmed neighbors to call police."

A second, more disturbing post, read: "I - SLASHED THAT **** AND RAPED HER SWEET INNOCENT DAUGHTER. ..HER SCREAM WAS SOOOO LOUD LOL."
