Elon Musk's staggering fortune can be attributed to the success of two of his companies, Tesla and SpaceX. As the world's most valuable electric car manufacturer, Tesla surpassed the $1 trillion mark in value this year. While Musk owns 21 percent of the company, he has pledged more than half of his stake as collateral for loans. Interestingly, he does not receive a cash salary or bonus from anywhere but instead relies on stock compensation.

SpaceX, on the other hand, has an estimated value of $74 billion following a recent funding round and a lucrative commercial contract with NASA. These achievements have contributed significantly to Musk's wealth.

In addition to Tesla and SpaceX, Musk has ventured into other business endeavors. Neuralink, for instance, focuses on developing technology that connects the human brain to computers. The Boring Company, another venture, specializes in building tunnels for intra-city transit systems.

Born in South Africa, Musk later moved to Canada at the age of 17 before settling in the United States. His entrepreneurial journey began with his education at the University of Pennsylvania and has since propelled him to become one of the richest individuals in the world.

Elon Musk's rise to the top of the wealth rankings is a testament to his visionary leadership and the groundbreaking innovations brought forth by Tesla and SpaceX. With his relentless pursuit of technological advancements, Musk continues to shape industries and inspire future generations.
