A thrift store shopper is revealing how she managed to purchase a pair of gold earrings for only 50 cents at Goodwill.

A Reddit user with the name @kokochina shared how she regularly visits second-hand stores to find the best deals and savings.

Thrifting has become a popular trend on social media with shoppers bargain hunting at Goodwill and other stores.

Some thrifty consumers are able to buy products that sell for a couple of dollars but are actually worth hundreds.

According to @kokochina, the gold earrings she bought from Goodwill for less than a dollar were worth around $100.

In a post, she wrote: “14K Gold Pearl Earrings for $0.50. They were in the $1.00 jewelry box at an estate sale and half-priced on Sunday.”

She admitted that the earrings were dirty but the gold remained “so shiny” and the backs were marked.

The thrift shopper claimed the estate sale’s cashier placed the jewelry in her mouth to check if it was real.

Apparently, the cashier did not believe the shopper had found the gold earrings in a dollar box.

She said that the cashier didn’t believe her that she found them in a dollar box, but the item had been marked down.

In the comment section of the post, Reddit users reacted to the bargain hunter’s surprising find.

One commenter said: “Holy smokes. That’s such a good deal, it’s a crime. I hope you love them because that is a beautiful transaction.

Another Reddit user added: “Those are beautiful. Congrats! I hope you enjoy them.

“My blister pearl earrings were a 50-cent purchase, too. What's with people low-pricing real pearls?”

The Goodwill thrift shopper shared: “I always look for jewelry and even if they were fake,

“$0.50 for a pair of okay-looking earrings was fine by me. The gold was so shiny and the backs were marked.

“They almost didn’t believe I found them in the dollar box but thankfully the other cashier confirmed she saw them there. They were not happy with how cheap I got them for.”

Daily Express has previously reported on shoppers finding an iPad in Goodwill for only $19.
