Goldie Hawn fiercely defends never marrying Kurt Russell after 40-year romance
Goldie Hawn has been with Kurt Russell for over 40 years, with the Hollywood actress making a very rare remark as to why they never tied the knot.
Goldie Hawn has been with her 72-year-old actor husband Kurt Russell for over 40 years but the Hollywood couple have never wed.
Speaking in an interview with Chris Wallace for a CNN special, the 77-year-old Hollywood staple shared the real reason the pair never tied the knot.
During the conversation, things appeared to turn heated as Goldie seemed annoyed at the presenter's constant repetition of the same topic.
Wallace began: "Why aren't the two of you married?"
Goldie, quickly, snapped back: "Why should we be? Isn't that a better question?"
The Overboard actress then touched on the matter of divorce, admitting it's something that has always pulled her back.
Goldie is not shy to divorce having been through two failed marriages, first with director Gus Trikonis in 1969 before their marriage ended in divorce in 1976.
She then had a six-year marriage with musician Bill Hudson, with whom she shares two children, Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson.
Goldie continued: "When it doesn't work out, it ends up being big business. It's always ugly.

"Somebody actually has to take a look and say, 'How many divorces actually are fun? How many divorces actually don't cost money? How many divorces actually make you hate the person more than you did before? How many divorces have hurt children?'"
Despite Goldie being adamant on her take on marriage, Wallace would not back down, as he asked her again: "But [you and Russell have] been together 40 years, you're not going to get divorced."
Goldie replied: "How did you know that then? I like the idea that I can wake up in the morning and make decisions every day if I want to be here.
"I mean relationships are hard. They're not always easy. There are all kinds of hurdles we go through. There are things that we believe in, things we don't believe in, and we agree on.
"So I think ultimately staying independent with independent thinking is important, so you can hold on to yourself, and you can actually have that feeling."
Goldie has since quipped about the interview on Instagram, calling out presenter Chris Wallace: "I get asked the darndest things! (Love you, Chris)."
Kurt and Goldie are considered one of Hollywood's cutest couples, having worked together on projects like Swing Shift, Overboard, and their Christmas movies.
With Goldie's children only being young when she got with Kurt, he is seen as their step-father, with the pair also going on to have a son together, Wyatt, in 1986.
