'I don't care!' George Santos erupts as he faces expulsion from House

The embattled junior representative said he doesn't care about what's going to happen to him, and will wear the expulsion like a badge of honor.

George Santos is well aware that he's about to be expelled by his colleagues in the House of Representatives — and he's made it clear that he doesn't care.

Rep. Robert Garcia, a Democrat from California, filed a privileged resolution to expel Santos following a scathing report from the House Ethics Committee that alleges the New York congressman "placed his desire for private gain above his duty to uphold the Constitution, federal law, and ethical principles.

"Look, you all want a soundbite. It's the third time we are going through this. I don't care," Santos said in response. "I was sent here by the people of the Third District of New York. I represent them. The political class in Washington, D.C., if they want to send me home, if they think this was a fair process, if they think this is how it should be done, and if they're confident that this is a constitutional way of doing it -- God bless their hearts."

He continued: "This is the third time we've gone through this. I didn't do it the first time I didn't do it the second time. I'm not going to do it the third time. It's not a good use of my time."

Prior to this, Santos bemoaned his fate, claiming that his fellow politicians are so engulfed in his own controversy that they can't handle their own business.

Dubbing himself the "Mary Magdalene of Congress" because he feels that his fellow politicians all want to "stone" him, Santos says he expects to be expelled by the House when it resumes.

"I know I'm going to get expelled when this expulsion resolution goes to the floor," Santos said on X Spaces, in the wake of the damning report by the House Ethics Committee that found "substantial evidence" of lawbreaking by the New York Republican. "I can do math."

But he also promised to "defend himself" until the end of time — and to re-emerge as an ambassador if, indeed, he does get expelled, because he's "very cultured."

A report from the House Ethics Committee, made up of both Democrats and Republicans, found evidence Santos used campaign funds for personal luxuries like Botox treatments and extravagant trips to Atlantic City.

The ISC report alleged Santos spent this money at high-end store Hermes, OnlyFans, Sephora, as well as on meals, parking, and to pay off his credit card bills.

“Representative Santos sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit,” investigators wrote. They claimed he did not cooperate with the report and repeatedly “evaded” straightforward requests for information.

On Friday, Santos said he did not want to address the specifics of the report, which he claimed were “slanderous” and “designed to force me out of my seat.” Any defense of his conduct, he said, could be used against him in the ongoing criminal case brought by federal prosecutors.

The last motion to expel George Santos (R-NY) from the House of Representatives failed, with the votes splitting predictably between the party lines.
