Country music legends Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are celebrating 18 years of marriage.

The couple, who tied the knot on December 10, 2005, are one of the few celebrity couples whose love has endured.

They have an incredible love story that dates back to 1988.

The then pre-fame couple met during a demo recording while Brooks was still married to his college sweetheart, Sandy Mahl.

However, the singer, 61, later recalled feeling that he had just met his "wife" during a 2013 appearance on The Show.

"I had been married 13 months when I met her," he confessed. "When someone said, 'What'd you think when I met her?' I said, 'I felt like I just met my wife,' which is weird, right?"

"I had no idea he would turn out to be Garth Brooks," Yearwood told CMT in 2009.

Despite getting such a strong feeling about Yearwood, Brooks and his future wife remained platonic friends and collaborators.

As his career began to become successful, Brooks invited Yearwood to sing on his second album, No Fences, and opened for him that year.

Yearwood went on to marry Christopher Latham from 1987 to 1991, and came into her own fame with her first big hit, She's in Love With the Boy.

The duo's collaborative relationship soon started to bare fruit as they took home the trophy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals at the 1998 for their duet, In Another's Eyes, which appeared on Yearwood's 1997 album (Songbook) A Collection of Hits.

The song marked their first official collaboration together, having only previously sung harmonies on each other's albums.

During this time, Brooks welcomed three girls with his wife.

Yearwood divorced Latham in 1991, and began seeing Bobby Reynolds, who she wed in 1994.

They remained married until 1999, the same year Brooks and Mahl split, ultimately finalizing their divorce in 2001.

Finally, Brooks was able to be with the woman he felt was already his wife during their first meeting.

The duo made their first appearance as a couple at the 33rd annual Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony in New York City.

In 2016, Yearwood told Parade that she believed her relationship with Brooks was "meant to be" and that their years of friendship provided "a great base" for their relationship.

Brooks has said that he just wants "to be wherever she's at" and loves "breathing the same air she's breathing."

"We don't spend very many nights apart," Yearwood added.

In May 2005, Brooks proposed to Yearwood in front of a crowd of more than 7,000 screaming fans at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace in California.

Recalling the happy moment, Yearwood told Us Weekly (per Daily Mail) in 2021 that she was "freaking out onstage" but did manage to "say yes."

"Garth's very private in those things. So, I was very surprised that's what happened that night," she added.

The couple tied the knot during an intimate ceremony at their home outside Tulsa, Oklahoma.

"It's the perfect Christmas gift to each other. We could not be happier," Brooks said in a statement at the time.

In 2019, Brooks joked to Entertainment Tonight that he became part of a "working wives club," adding: "I lay out at the pool with the other husbands…I think, 'I'll go shopping today.' Yeah, she's the bomb man. She does it all."

Initially, Yearwood felt "really scared" of becoming a stepmother, but she loves spending time with Brook's girls, saying: "I didn't know I was missing," she told SheKnows. "I can't imagine my life without them."

While the couple have traveled the world together, they chose to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary at McDonalds.

Hopefully, they chose to go somewhere nicer this year.
