A shocking video capturing the assault on a dog by a garbageman has sparked outrage among netizens and animal rights advocates across Mexico.

The incident occurred in the municipality of Naucalpan and has swiftly circulated on social media.

The 23-second clip shows sanitation workers carrying out their morning duties, seemingly routine until a hooded worker stealthily approaches a closed newspaper stand.

Behind it lies a sleeping dog.

Without warning, the aggressor hurls a sizable stone at the canine, hitting it on the head and leaving it bewildered.

Unperturbed by the dog's passive response, the assailant throws another stone before advancing and delivering a forceful kick to its snout, causing the dog to lift off the ground and crash onto the pavement.

The brutality doesn't end there; the perpetrator continues his assault, mercilessly kicking the helpless animal five more times.

According to local media reports, when questioned about the attack, the assailant callously justified his actions, claiming that the dog always barks at him when he passes by.

The video triggered a wave of indignation on social media, with users condemning the act and demanding justice for the dog.

Many expressed that dogs, known for their loyalty and affection, may exhibit aggression due to past traumas or as a defense mechanism against mistreatment.

Comments flooded social media, with users expressing their anger and calling for collective action against the assailant.

One user wrote on X: "I hope someone can do something to help the dog....and to the 'distinguished gentleman.' I hope life gives you what you deserve."

Another user threatened the man in a tweet that gained hundreds of likes: "If anyone has information about him and tells me where to find him, I promise that I will record how I torture him and upload it here."

A local animal rights organization, Mundo Patitas AC, also responded to the video online.

They wrote: "Thanks to the citizen complaints and the collaboration of a volunteer who lives in the area, we managed to locate the day, time, place and truck of the cowardly sanitation employee...we have already filed a complaint with the attorney general."
