There’s still time to have a summer vacation and according to a recent travel report, Florida is currently a favorite destination in the US. Travel property site HomeToGo, Jacksonville, have listed their top five picks:

1. Jacksonville Beach, Florida

The Jacksonville beaches, which extend for 22 miles, include Mayport, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach. Beyond the beach, are waterways which you can be explored by kayak, and beautiful parks to tour by bike or on two feet.

There’s also a golf course and a fishing pier. In town, you'll find a thriving art scene with murals on many of the buildings and world-class museums.

2. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

This lovely beach sits along the 60-mile Grand Strand of the Atlantic coast. It’s also home to many golf courses and two sensational state parks with walking and biking trails galore.

Enjoy a bird’s eye view over the beach from the SkyWheel and see what lives under the sea at Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach.

Open-air bars line the Myrtle Beach boardwalk or you could duck into one of the many speakeasies and sip on local craft beers.

3. Miramar Beach, Florida

It goes without saying there are mind-blowing, sugar-white sand beaches here but there’s also the opportunity to get up close (well not too close) to alligators at Gator Beach.

Where there’s a beach, there are surf shops, and the selection at Miramar Beach is extensive. There are also spectacularly-scenic coast drives and again, golf courses within 15 minutes of the beach.

4. Seaside, Florida

The coastline here is nothing short of sensational with a long, straight stretch of gleaming white-sandy beaches. Use the location to book a surf lesson. There is an amphitheater and food trucks dotted about town and an adorable Seaside Post Office.

Seaside was created as a “new old town” inspired by the classic beach destinations in the South - with white picket fences, bike paths, and blue umbrellas and sun loungers lining the water’s edge.

Mammoth Lakes

5. Mammoth Lakes, California

The fresh mountain air and extraordinary scenery; peaked, craggy mountains, alpine lakes, and towering pines make Mammoth Lakes are a mecca for outdoor lovers.

Hike along the Crystal Lake Trail to see the alpine lake or hit the Mammoth Rock Trail for breathtaking mountain and valley views.

Adrenaline lovers can traverse the trails on a mountain bike from the summit on Off the Top.

Best of the Rest:

6. North Topsail Beach, N.C.

7. Des Moines, Iowa

8. Saratoga Springs, NY

9. Nashville, Tenn.

10. Truro, Mass.
