Haunting footage reveals the last moments missing teenager Brissa Romero was seen before authorities discovered and removed her car from a pond.

Brissa vanished over a week ago in a chilling mystery, and was captured on CCTV footage at her workplace, where she had reportedly returned to pick up her iPad.

She is understood to have been on her way to the company’s holiday party at a bowling alley in Chicago, Illinois.

The surveillance video, obtained by local television station WMAQ-TV, tracks Brissa as she walks around the restaurant where she works in Schaumburg, in what appears to be dark clothing.

But Brissa never made it at the party at Bowlero in Vernon Hills, with colleagues saying they never saw her arrive.

Her phone was last contacted close to the party and later police were able to track the device to a retention pond, from which they later removed Brissa’s damaged vehicle.

Law enforcement said that they believe Brissa was inside the Nissan when it entered the water, adding that they discovered other belongings of hers inside the car, but Brissa herself was nowhere to be seen.

The search for the missing teenager continues.

A local person also reported seeing a black backpack floating on the surface of the water toward the edge of the retention pond before the vehicle was found by police.

Vernon Hills Chief of Police Patrick Kreis said: "Based on the condition of the vehicle and all the evidence we have at this point, it appears that Brissa was in that vehicle when it drove into the lake."

Brissa’s family have been desperately searching for her since December 4, and have appealed to the public to assist in the search.

Brissa’s sister, Dulce Romero, told WMAQ-TV urged anyone who was able to contact her sister during the drive to the party to come forward and assist with the investigation.

“From what we know that she was driving alone up here, north, but we're trying to figure out if, by any chance, something happened where somebody was able to contact her during the drive,” Romero said.

She also requested that anyone, or any business, provide relevant surveillance footage in a bid to pinpoint the route Brissa took and her current whereabouts.

"That night, maybe there's something they can actually find within their private cameras that the police don't have access to,” she added.

“And please come forward. If there's any sort of information of Brissa's missing vehicle, or of herself."

Brissa Romero has brown hair and has been described as 5 ft 5, weighing around 115 pounds.

The Christmas party she was expected to attend was around 45 miles north of Chicago.
