After a brutal week for NFL injuries, the fantasy football waiver wire contains numerous low-owned players ready to step into larger roles.

This is the part of the year when the physical grind of a 17-game season takes its toll on players, especially as the weather around the country worsens. On the flip side, the backups who've bided their time for more snaps may be able to use the exhaustion of opposing defenders against them.

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears and Baltimore Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell are among the players seemingly on the brink of some stellar performances.

Below, Express Sports US lists the five sneakiest fantasy football waiver wire pickups heading into Week 14 of the NFL season, as defined by sub-35 ownership percentage...

Tyjae Spears, RB, TEN - 32 percent owned

The people who've dropped Tyjae Spears this season are kicking themselves. Derrick Henry sustained a head injury against the Indianapolis Colts, and Spears 12.8 PPR fantasy points in his place.

It appears that Henry could be ready to go for Week 14. Regardless, Spears' latest standout performance gives Tennessee further reason to let the rookie stretch his wings. Pick him up if he's available in your league.

Keaton Mitchell, RB, BAL - 30.7 percent owned

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a bye, so our message is the same as last week: Pick up Keaton Mitchell! His role keeps expanding alongside Gus Edwards, and he has enough juice to be fantasy-relevant in a split workload. A juicy matchup with the poorly-regarded Los Angeles Rams defense awaits.

Jameson Williams, WR, DET - 13.2 percent owned

Boy, is Jameson Williams fast. The rookie wide receiver's acceleration on a touchdown carry this past weekend was breathtaking. He's an ultimate boom-or-bust player, but his capacity to rip off massive gains means a career game might be just around the corner.

Detroit has a favorable matchup with the Chicago Bears in Week 14. If you need upside in your lineup, he's worth a flier.

Brevin Jordan, TE, HOU - 2.4 percent owned

Brevin Jordan enjoyed one of his most productive games of the season this past weekend, securing three of four targets for 64 yards. The Texans' receiving corps got more banged up with the loss of Tank Dell for the season, so Jordan figures to see more looks in one of the NFL's best passing offenses of 2023.

Alec Pierce, WR, IND - 1.4 percent owned

It had been a struggle for Alec Pierce to replicate his promising rookie season until a breakout performance against the Tennessee Titans. The deep ball specialist made three catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.

While his week-to-week role will remain in flux given the congestion of the Indianapolis depth chart, Pierce is a big-play threat the Colts want to get more involved. It doesn't take many receptions for him to deliver a gigantic yardage total.
