Ex-UFC star Eddie Alvarez left with one eye shut after brutal bare-knuckle fight

Eddie Alvarez suffered a brutal injury to his left eye during a bare-knuckle fight on Saturday.

'My dad won Olympic gold - and now people call me the best MMA prospect in the the world'

Eddie Alvarez was left with one eye completely shut after being beat up by fellow ex-UFC star Mike Perry in their bare-knuckle clash.
Alvarez's corner pulled him out after the second round when the fighter admitted he couldn't see out of his left eye.

In winning, Perry claimed the title of The King of Violence, and said: “I like to get hit a little bit sometimes. I like that s***. It makes me feel alive. I work on the head movement but the last one ended so easily, I just wanted to have a battle so I let him get some shots off. I had a great time.

“Eddie Alvarez is a hell of a competitor. Who owns combat sports now? The king of violence! ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry!”
Perry went on to call out Conor McGregor with whom he faced off after his last bare-knuckle fight in April.

“Conor McGregor would be a great matchup," he said "I just beat somebody he fought for a world title. Who’s bigger than that? There’s no one bigger than Conor McGregor except me.

“These boxers don’t want to take the gloves off. Darren Till said he doesn’t want to do it with no gloves. Who wants to fight Platinum Mike Perry with no gloves?” Alvarez, who was the UFC lightweight champion until he lost to McGregor in 2016, said: "I think bare-knuckle is the fastest-growing sport in the world.

"I love this, I really do. I was on point, I was so sharp. Unfortunately this sport is so volatile, you just dont know. I think my orbital's smashed up and that's all she wrote. It f****** sucks, it was a good show, the fans won; I didn't win, but the fans won.

"I thought Mike would go down and he didn't, my hat goes off to Mike Perry, the guy's a f****** battle axe. Mike was the better man, I take my wins and I take my losses the same way and keep my head high.

"I'm not 100 percent suyre when he landed the shot he landed but midway though the second I felt my eye closing and when I sat down I went to open my mouth a bit and I think my orbital is smashed up a bit. I started getting into a firefight with him and that's not something you do with Mike Perry, it's foolish."
