DWTS fans cringe over Julianne Hough’s ‘tone-deaf’ comment in Spanish to Lele Pons
Presenter Julianne Hough has come under fire from Dancing With the Stars fans for her attempts to speak Spanish with eliminated celebrity dancer, Lele Pons.

Dancing With the Stars fans were left cringing during Tuesday night’s episode over an awkward moment between host Julianne Hough and Lele Pons.
After social media star Lele and her pro partner Brand Armstrong wrapped up their Salsa, they took to the sky box to chat with Julianne and await their scores.
The dance, performed to Whenever, Wherever by Shakira, earned them a respectable 33 but sadly wasn’t enough to impress the voters.
Lele and Brand ended up eliminated from the competition, but not before Julianne attempted some ropey Spanish with the Venezuelan star.
She revealed she had met Shakira some years before, and Lele expressed her love for the Colombian hitmaker, calling her an “idol”.

Lele then exclaimed “Te amo, te amo, te amo”, which Julianne then repeated before quickly cutting to a commercial break.
DWTS fans preceded to mock the Utah-born host’s attempts at a Spanish accent as they took to X/Twitter during the episode.
“[Not] Julianne saying te amo girl bye,” one viewer joked.
Another harsh fan wrote: “Wtf why did Julianne just say ‘te amo’ with her dumba** little smirk like girl get out of here. Anyone else find that tone deaf af?”

“Did Julianne realize Lele was speaking Spanish and not just random syllables?” one viewer asked on Reddit.
And another Redditor said: “Julianne girl maybe not attempting Spanish on air right after a native speaker…”
While a final X-user wrote: “After hearing Julianne say te amo I KNOW she says gracias at Mexican restaurants after ordering.”
Fans were also not impressed with Julianne’s outfit of choice for the evening.
She looked stylish with her bright blonde hair in curls and donning a pin-striped suit.
However, the look was totally ruined for some by cutouts on the jacket exposing her pink bra beneath.
Julianne also donned a pair of pants with what appeared to be a matching pair of panties on the outside.
The ensemble was inspired by Madonna’s Vogue video for Music Video Night, some pointed out, although the effect was apparently lost on most viewers.
Dancing With the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET on ABC and Disney+.
