Dallas is regularly voted one of our favorite Southern destinations. It’s the city that brought us the fictitious feuding Ewing brothers with cowboy hats, shoulder pads, and excessively-bejeweled wives in the long-running 1970s series, named after the town.

The series helped put the city on one of the Southern States' most visited places map. But there’s so much more to this quintessential southern city bursting with southern charm.

TripAdvisor, which ranked the town second best, said: "Whatever your all is, you’ll find it here. From artful cityscapes and wondrous museums to beautiful parks and savory Tex-Mex eats, Dallas promises fun and adventure for everyone.

"Marvel at the skyline on the Reunion Tower observation deck and score artisan treasures in the funky Deep Ellum boutiques. When you’ve worked up an appetite, treat your tastebuds to beloved Texas barbecue and a frosty, local brew."

Dallas was ranked the fourteenth best US city to visit by a new study from Best Cities. It said: "But Dallas is big on fun and culture".

The study read: "This is the home of America’s sixth-largest LGBTQ+ community. On 20 square blocks of mixed-use space (there are) institutions like the Dallas Museum of Art, the Crow Museum of Asian Art, theaters, symphony and opera venues, restaurants and bars."

The most prominent building in the skyline is Reunion Tower. This glowing orb can be seen across the city, as it’s 561ft high. Go to the GeO-Deck at 470ft up for the most sensational views.

The Nasher Sculpture Center houses one of the finest collections of modern and contemporary sculptures in the world. The 55,000-square-foot space is enclosed by a glass facade, providing continuous views from the street, through the building, and across the length of the 1.4-acre outdoor gallery and garden.

The Meadows Museum features an impressive selection of 15th to 20th century Spanish art, while the Dallas Museum of Art features over 25,000 works of modern and contemporary art.
