Costco has landed itself in hot water after re-launching its beloved Gooey Cinamon Rolls for double the original price.

The Bakery brought back the baked good just in time for the holiday season, having discontinued the sweet treat during the pandemic for re-branding purposes.

Shoppers were delighted to see the cinnamon rolls make a comeback earlier in year, but the colossal price hike didn't go unnoticed.

Pastry connoisseurs also spotted a slight change in the taste and flocked to social media in great numbers to raise the matter.

A debate sparked across TikTok after a content creator who manages the account @costcohotfinds discussed the re-branded rolls.

She said: "Costco brought back the Gooey Cinnamon Rolls for the holidays and earlier this year the bakery changed the recipe and these are phenomenal.

“I heated mine in the microwave for 20 seconds and these bites are so soft and doughy and gooey, that I needed a fork. These are a must-try.”

While many of the commentators joined the content creator in praising the new recipe, a flurry of complaints about pricing appeared in the comments. Some users alleged it had doubled.

“Didn’t they use to be $6? Now $12.99,” one comment read, while another - which garnered thousands of likes - echoed: “To think last year they were only $7.99.”

Others compared the price to cinnamon rolls elsewhere, with one user saying: “Some things are Costco are superior but I only pay $7 for very similar cinnamon rolls at Sam’s Club."

Some commentators voiced their disappointment about the new recipe, particularly its texture. A user wrote: “Mine weren’t goey. The new ones are trash 3/10 old ones 10/10.”

Each container packs six buns covered in cheese-based glazing that come in a disposable aluminum tin.

“These are actually amazing!” One viewer commented on the post. “I had them once and if you bake them for a little longer they caramelize at the bottom.”

Another person echoed this opinion, writing: “They are delicious. Even better with a scoop of rum raisin ice cream."
