Britney Spears turned 42 on Saturday, with the singer recently admitting she can't wait for 2024 after a turbulent year.

The Toxic hitmaker has had a lot going on in 2023, with her split from husband Sam Asghari and the release of her tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me.

Daily Express US has taken a look back at Britney's key moments.

Britney's love life took a downfall this year when it was announced that the singer and Sam Asghari were separating after 14 months of marriage.

The pair had begun dating in 2016 but only tied the knot at her Calabasas mansion last year.

Since then, many rumors have circulated surrounding Spears’ alleged infidelity and Asghari’s alleged attempts to renegotiate their prenuptial agreement.

As Britney appeared to embrace single life, the singer sparked massive concern among her fans when she danced with knives on Instagram.

Although she claimed they were "fake" cops were still allegedly called to her house for a welfare check.

She wrote on Instagram at the time: "Is it a joke in the news again with welfare checks??? Come on America… we cooler than that, right ??? (sic)

"The officers came to my home and said they would not leave until they spoke to me as people do 4-minute performances with them. I am getting an apology.

This wasn't the end for the pop star as she released her memoir, The Woman in Me, in October.

Some of the biggest revelations in the book include revealing that she had an abortion with Justin Timberlake when she was just 19-years-old.

That wasn't the only big red flag she shared about Justin as she claimed he dumped her by text.

She also opened up about her 13-year conservatorship, detailing how her father Jamie Spears "controlled her body and her money" and "hurt" her with "fat" jibes.

Britney also admitted that she is trying to get a better relationship with her estranged family but it's hard to ignore her anger.

As the end of the year approaches, before her birthday, Britney admitted she has been struggling in 2023, due to her book bringing up all the worst parts of her life.
