Brenda Lee makes history as her Christmas hit reaches number 1 for first time in 58 years

Brenda Lee has made music history at 78, due to her hit song that was released 65 years ago.

Brenda Lee, 78, released her Christmas hit, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree in 1958, with the single making history.

The hit has finally reached number one on the Billboard charts for the very first time, 65 years after its initial release.

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree has gone platinum five times and flirted with number one several times but never got higher than number two in 2019 and again in 2022.

In honor of the song's 65th birthday, Brenda appeared in a new music video for the song singing the tune at a Christmas Party.

Brenda looked great in a bright red holiday dress as she sang her heart out, with Tanya Tucker, 65, and Trisha Yearwood, 59, making guest appearances.

Dolly Parton has since taken to congratulate her longtime friend with a short video, exclaiming: "Well hey Brenda Lee.

"I want to join you in celebrating the 65th anniversary of your classic hit Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree. Merry Christmas."

Dolly was dressed in a sparkling pink outfit with a plunging neckline in the clip shared on Instagram and styled her signature blonde tresses in loose waves.

Brenda was only 13 when she recorded the song by the late Johnny Marks.

The Bronze Star Medalist was Jewish but had had a lot of success writing holiday tunes, including the music for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Run Rudolph Run.

She is the oldest artist to ever have a holiday tune hit the top of the Billboard 100 and the song holds the record for the longest wait to reach the high mark.
