While eggs can be a tasty weekend dish, it can sometimes start to get boring having the same thing for breakfast every week.

However, Gordon Ramsay has a new recipe to elevate your eggs with his “beautiful breakfast sandwich” which can quickly be assembled and cooked in 10 minutes.

Gordon first discovered this breakfast sandwich recipe while in Louisiana, which he found is a local favorite, and quickly had to make his own version of this “perfect sandwich.”

In a video online, Gordon said: “How do you turn a leftover croissant into something delicious? Well, watch and learn.”

Gordon’s recipe calls for Tasso ham, a seasoned piece of pork that comes from a wild hog and is a specialty of south Louisiana cuisine, but is difficult to find out of state so you can easily substitute it for any bacon or ham you prefer.

Instructions

Place a pan on high heat on the stove. Once it has warmed up add a little salt and a tablespoon of olive oil to the place.

Slice your croissant and place it side down onto the plan until nicely toasted, and then flip it and do the other side. Make sure all the salt is absorbed before removing the croissant and setting it aside.

Turn the heat to medium-high and then add your ham. Season it with pepper and Old Bay as it cooks in the pan. Once fully cooked, remove it and place it on a plate with a paper towel.

Do not wash the pan yet in order to keep all the ham dripping. Add a tablespoon of olive oil and two knobs of butter to the pan, then season the butter with some Old Bay.

Once the butter has browned crack an egg into the pan. As the egg cooks, lightly base it with the butter.

While the egg is cooking, make your spicy mayo sauce. Place mayonnaise, hot sauce, Old Bay seasoning as well as some lemon juice into a small bowl and mix together. Add as much hot sauce as you prefer.

On a plate, it is time to assemble your sandwich. Put a thin layer of spicy mayo sauce on the bottom of the croissant, followed by some chopped lettuce, then season with a little salt. Next, add the tomato and cheese then put another layer of the mayo sauce on top of the cheese. Add your ham on top followed by the egg. Place a little more spicy mayo around the egg and place the top croissant piece.

Your delicious Louisiana breakfast sandwich is now ready to serve.
