Ariana Grande heartbroken as drummer Aaron Spears dies aged 47

Ariana Grande has shared the news her drummer Aaron Spears has died at the age of 47. His family had announced his passing on Instagram earlier today.

Ariana Grande has shared her heartbreak following the news Aaron Spears, her long-time tour drummer, has died.

The singer posted a tribute to Aaron on her Instagram, shortly after his family confirmed the news of his passing at the age of 47.

Sharing a black-and-white photograph of him playing on his drumkit, Ariana wrote on her Instagram Stories: “I can’t wrap my head around this.

“We were all so incredibly lucky to know Aaron. The absolute brightest light of a human being. Always the kindest, always smiling, I am so honored and thankful that our paths crossed and to have spent so much very special time together.”

“Thank you for your utter brilliance, for our laughs, and for your kindness always,” she added.

“I will miss your hugs. You are so, so loved and will be so very missed.”

Aaron had appeared on tour with Ariana as a longstanding member of her crew and band.

His wife, Jessica, announced that he had died on his Instagram page early Monday morning.

In her statement, she praised him and his love for their son, August.

“His love, guidance, and warmth were the pillars of our family, and his absence leaves a void that words cannot describe,” Jessica wrote.

“We are blessed to have him in our lives, his legacy will live on through the beautiful rhythms he created and the love he shared with us.”

She added: “We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Please remember Aaron for the incredible person he was and the amazing music he brought into our world.”

Among the celebrities to pay their respects was Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, who wrote: “I have no words. I love you so much my brother and will miss you. This doesn’t seem real. Praying for you Jessica and August.”

Ethan Torchio, the drummer of Maneskin, also paid his respects and wrote: “Still processing this news, It broke my heart. I’m so so sorry, rest in peace Aaron. Deep condolences to his family.”

Singer/Songwriter Israel Houghton added: “I was JUST with him!!! And we were JUST texting a few days ago. I cannot believe this is happening.

“Praying for you and August. The NewBreed fam is here for you whatever is needed at all.”

His cause of death was kept private.
