A road in the USA has been dubbed one of the most likely places to have an encounter of the third kind.

Nevada’s State Route 375 is the favorite road in Nevada for UFO and alien enthusiasts. It has been officially named the Extraterrestrial Highway due to the number of reported sightings of strange lights in the sky.

The road, which runs for 98 miles, primarily weaves its way through Nye and Lincoln counties in Nevada. It sits adjacent to the more well-known alien hotspot Area 51, part of the Nevada Test and Training Range which was kept secret by the government until 2013.

The road has long attracted paranormal enthusiasts who spend hours waiting in one of the many cafes and shops for sightings of any eerie happenings.

As you head towards Crystal Springs, the tourist board has helpfully placed signs denoting the start of the official Extraterrestrial Highway.

At the gateway to the highway and gleaming in the desert, stands the massive two-story silver alien ushering you into the Alien Research Center.

The gift shop has everything from Area 51 mugs and to alien statues and it’s also the place to chat about sightings with the locals.

As you drive on, in Rachel, you’ll spot The Black Mailbox. It’s a location in the middle of the desert where extraterrestrial-obsessed super-fans have been congregating for decades to swap stories.

Fuel up beef jerky at the aptly-named E.T. Fresh Jerky at Hiko. The stop also does Maritan Poop flavored soda and the more earthly-like butter toffee peanuts. Your road trip will not be complete without a stop at the Little A’Le’Inn

A sign ‘held’ by a green martian at the entrance reads, “Welcome Earthlings”. It is a bar and restaurant.

Not far from the town is the Lunar Crater National Landmark on Highway 6. Alien fans will be disappointed to discover the crater wasn’t formed by a lunar landing - but it is actually a volcano.

When you stand on its 430ft deep crater, you can see the 20 different extinct volcanoes in the surrounding hills.

At the junction of the Extraterrestrial Highway and Highway 6, you’ll see the dilapidated ruins of the ghost town of Warm Springs. An emerald green pool of thermal spring water sits behind the Warm Springs Bar and Grill, which was abandoned 50 years ago.
