Iconic rock band Aerosmith has only made it through the first three shows of their farewell tour before having to postpone six cities' worth of shows.

Sharing a devastating update on their social media channels, singer Steven Tyler made a “heartbroken” announcement.

The Dream On singer revealed he had “received strict doctor’s orders not to sing” for at least the next month.

He explained during Saturday’s show in New York, the 75-year-old had sustained vocal damage.

The extent of the injury was so severe it “led to subsequent bleeding”.

In order to give himself the full 30 days the doctor had ordered, Aerosmith will be postponing some dates across six cities, with fans now having to wait an extra four months to get “the performance you deserve”.

The next six show dates across September will now be moved to the end of the band’s farewell tour run.

The rockers will return to Detroit on January 29, Chicago on Valentine’s Day, Washington on February 17 and head up to Canada for the Toronto show on February 17, Raleigh on the 26 and ultimately ending in Cleveland on February 29.

Steven’s announcement also noted previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled dates and refunds are available for those who can’t attend the 2024 shows.

Many fans took the news surprisingly well, sharing their sympathies and well wishes for the singer, who has been dubbed the Demon of Screamin’ for his high-pitched belts.

A few were also incredibly thankful, noting the age of the band’s stars left them fearing the notice had far worse news.

The postponements come just three shows into Aerosmith’s Peace Out: The Farewell Tour which started on September 2nd in Philadelphia, also marking their 40th show in the city.

The Boston-based band thrilled fans with their hit-filled setlist, collecting fan-favorite songs from their five decades as a chart-topping group, including wedding staples I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing and Sweet Emotion.

Aerosmith’s farewell tour is one of their most ambitious string of stage shows in recent years, marking 40 shows over five months spanning across the US and Canada with a highly anticipated “special hometown show” in Boston for New Year’s Eve
